At Queen Boudica, science learning is brought to life through the Grammarsaurus Science curriculum, which provides a clear, knowledge-rich framework for developing a deep understanding of scientific concepts. Lessons are designed to build curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of discovery from an early age.

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), children are introduced to science through the area of 'Understanding the World'. Our youngest learners explore the natural world, ask questions, observe changes, and use all their senses in hands-on investigations, laying strong foundations for future science learning.

In KS1 and KS2, we follow the National Curriculum for Science, ensuring children explore key areas of biology, chemistry, and physics through engaging and practical experiences. Our Knowledge Overviews show which elements are taught in each year group and how scientific understanding is built upon annually, helping every child prepare for each new stage.

To further enrich science, we use STEM Learning opportunities that encourage creativity, problem solving, and logical thinking through hands-on activities reflecting real-world contexts. In addition, we use Explorify to spark discussion, foster questioning, and nurture inquisitive thinking through captivating investigations and visual prompts.

Together, these approaches ensure that our pupils not only learn science but experience it as creative, challenging, and exciting.
